Ingredients
  • 40 Saltine crackers
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 12 oz. bag chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped almonds

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Cover bottom and sides of cookie sheet with aluminum foil.
  3. Spray foil with buttery Pam, or other non-stick spray.
  4. Place crackers on sheet, side by side; don't overlap.
  5. Melt butter in a saucepan. Add sugar and bring to a full boil. Boil 3 minutes, stirring, to the soft-ball stage.
  6. Pour immediately, gently over the crackers. Spread with spoon to cover as much cracker as possible.
  7. Bake at 400 for 6 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle with chocolate chips, allowing to melt for a minute or two.
  9. Spread chocolate with spoon, gently over the sugar layer.
  10. Sprinkle with nuts.
  11. Refrigerate at least 2 hours. Peel foil from back of toffee and break with hands into pieces. Store in refrigerator in a plastic container.

Great recipe! saving this one! (I love saltine crackers...even eat them raw...right out of the pack!).


I make this also. But I use walnuts instead of almonds.I give this as food gifts every year at Christmas time.


I never knew saltines were so versatile till i joined this site. i always have them for soup, casseerole topping etc...
