Willard Scotts Hot Fudge Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp of butter, melted
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of cocoa
  • 1 3/4 cups of hot top water

Directions
  1. Grease 9 inch square baking dish or pan.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  3. Into large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, 2 tbsp. cocoa, baking powder and salt.
  4. Stir in milk and melted butter.
  5. Blend in walnuts.
  6. Spread in greased dish.
  7. Sprinkle brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa over batter in the dish.
  8. Pour hot water over entire batter.
  9. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until the batter is set and sauce bubbles.
  10. Let cool before slicing.
  11. (It makes its own chocolate sauce)
  12. Enjoy with ice cream or whipped cream.
  13. Serves 6 normal people, or my family of three.

Ohhhhhhhhh this looks sooooooooooo good. I can taste it right now as I type. Just a thought, you could make individual ramekins with this mixture. Either way I'm sure to be making it. Thank you.

Notcho!! How are you? I'm so glad I could get some time on here tonight - and I found this delish recipe...I remember these "makes its own sauce" cakes from "a zillion days ago" - WONDERFUL, especially warm from the oven!! I'm starving just looking at these recipes tonight - thanks for the reminder of a "classic" oldie-but-goodie. I hope you're doing well - you are in my thoughts so often, dear!!
