Ingredients

How to make it

  • In large skillet, melt margarine.
  • Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off.
  • Combine flour and remaining crustingredients in melted margarine.
  • Cook over medium-high heat, 3-4 minutes or until mixture is medium golden brown & crumbly, stirring constantly.
  • Reserve 1/3 cup crumb mixture for topping.
  • Press remaining mixture, using back of fork, firmly into bottom and sides of 9-inch pie pan.
  • Cool completely
  • In large bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form, set aside.
  • In small bowl, beat egg yolks.
  • Gradually add condensed milk; mix well.
  • Stir in lime peel. Add lime juice a little at a time, stirring after each
  • addition .
  • Fold mixture into egg whites.
  • Pour into crust. Top with reserved crumbs.
  • Freeze about 3 hours or until set.
  • For longer storage, wrap in foil.
  • Allow to soften a few minutes before serving
  • Serve with whipped cream, if desired
  • 8 servings

    Thanks for the post! I love key lime pie, but sometimes wish there was a little added something to it,leave it to you to find it! Almonds, mmmmm!!

    Boy, Jett this sounds really good. It might be the one for Easter dinner. I love anything citrus (especially lime) and it's really good after a salty meal like ham....
    and for the cheese crackers how about some garlic or some rosemary or for a sweet alternative some crystalized maple syrup?
