I made these on 5/15 & 5/19/2013. I noticed that 310 is not hot enough for the sugar syrup. If you heat the syrup up to 320, then put the pb in the microwave on high until the sugar syrup is somewhere between 325-330 degrees THEN add your liquefied pb. You then have enough extra heat to get you from mixing in the pb to pouring it out in the pan. Since the filling is a pseudo caramel/special K bar "binder"/ brittle mixture on the sugar half of the chemical equation you need a bit heat to help you out with out crossing the 350-375 degree barrier. (At that point you have full on caramels & nougats)

This extra heat makes perfect bars every time. And they are super easy to score & cut!! Hope this helps!

I made these yesterday, (11-17-2012) and they are amazing! They were so easy and taste just like a Butterfinger. I double dipped mine to add a little extra chocolate. You must be "VERY QUICK" at scoring your bars or cubes (what I did) as they harden extremly "FAST" I had quite a few crumbs and chunks left which I mixed with my left over chocolate and spread on waxed paper, it makes a great ice cream topping. Thanks Halees Grandma for this wonderful recipe. If I could give it a 10 star I could. I will be making these quite often.

    Here's some things I've learned:

1)It hardens quickly. If you can avoid it, don't use a knife to even out the batch after you've poured it. Also, cut your bars very soon after pouring into your dish.
2)If using a candy thermometer, use a smaller saucepan. Even if you double the recipe.
3)If using a double broiler to melt your chocolate: boil the water, TAKE IT OFF THE HEAT, then put the second saucepan with the chocolate on top.

I've made this before perfectly / but also have had it where it just crumbles up when stirring it after the peanut butter's added - anyone know why this is? Should you let the sugar mixture cool down a bit before adding the peanut butter?

I tried this recipe using a microwave oven instead of stove top. The candy turned out extremely hard; like brittle. Yes, the temperature was 310F. Any suggestions?
