Fried Green Tomatoes

- 1 large egg slightly beaten shopping list
- 1/2 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour, divided shopping list
- 1/2 cup cornmeal shopping list
- 1/3-1/2 cup grated fresh parmasean cheese shopping list
- 1 tea. salt shopping list
- 1/2 tea. pepper shopping list
- 3 medium size green tomatoes, sliced about 1/3" slices shopping list
- vegetable oil shopping list
- salt to taste shopping list
How to make it
- Combine egg & buttermilk (set aside)
- Combine 1/4 cup all purpose flour, cornmeal, 1 tea. salt and pepper in a shallow bowl
- Dredge tomato slices in remaining 1/4 cup flour; dip in egg mixture and dredge in cornmeal mixture
- Pour oil to about 1/4 - 1/2 inch deep in cast iron skillet
- Drop tomatoes, in batches into HOT oil and cook 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels
- Sprinkle with salt
