Jetts Crazy For Caramel Cake

- ********CAKE******** shopping list
- 2 STICKS butter (ROOM TEMPERATURE) shopping list
- 2 CUPS WHITE GRANULATED sugar shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
- 3 CUPS SIFTED ALL PURPOSE flour shopping list
- 1 CUP milk shopping list
- 1 TSP vanilla shopping list
- ******FILLING***** shopping list
- 2 STICKS butter shopping list
- 2 CUPS PACKED light brown sugar shopping list
- 1/4 CUP milk shopping list
- 1 TSP vanilla shopping list
- **********FROSTING********** shopping list
- 1 STICK butter(yes, more butter!) shopping list
- 1 CUP PACKED dark brown sugar shopping list
- 1 (16 OZ) BOX powdered sugar shopping list
- 1/3 CUP heavy cream, OR MORE IF NECESSARY shopping list
- 1 TSP vanilla shopping list
- 1 CUP CHOPPED nuts (OPTIONAL) shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
- Grease & flour 3 9-inch round cake pans
- *****FOR CAKE*****
- Using electric mixer,cream butter until fluffy
- Add granulated sugar and continue to cream well 6 - 8 minutes
- Add eggs, one at a time beating well after each addition
- Add flour & milk alternately; ending with flour
- Add vanilla and continue to beat until well blended
- Divide batter evenly in the three pans.
- Level batter in each pan (slam the pans down on counter to remove any air bubbles)
- Bake for 25 - 35 minutes or until brown and toothpick inserted tests done.
- MEANWHILE, PREPARE CAKE FILLING
- In saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar and milk
- Cook and stir over medium heat for 3 - 5 minutes
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla
- Remove cake layers from oven and allow cake to remain in pans as you prepare to stack layers and add the filling.
- Remove first layer and invert cake onto your cake plate.
- Pierce layer with toothpick over entire surface.
- Spread about 1/3 of filling mixture on cake layer
- Top with 2nd layer, repeat.
- Top with the last layer and repeat process one more time.
- ***NOTE***The frosting only goes on the outer cake, not in between layers.
- ********TO PREPARE FROSTING********
- Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir in brown sugar and cream
- Bring to a boil and transfer to mixing bowl
- Add the powdered sugar and vanilla
- Beat with mixer until spreading consistency.
- Add cream 1 teaspoon at a time if too thick
- Top with nuts if you like!
- ***ANOTHER NOTE***
- Frosting will get hard fast! Add the heavy cream and use right away.
