Gooey Butter Cake From St Louis Recipe
This is THE recipe for authentic St. Louis style Gooey Butter Cake. For all of you who have never tried this, you are missing out! My mom used to make this for me all the time growing up.

Ingredients
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 stick of butter, softened
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease a 9x13 pan.
  3. Mix cake mix, butter, and 2 eggs. Mixture will be thick. Spread in pan.
  4. Mix powdered sugar, cream cheese, and 2 eggs. Pour over above mixture.
  5. Bake for exactly 30 minutes (cake will not look done, but it is)
  6. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top of cake while still hot.
