Barefoot Contessas Pan Fried Onion Dip

You will never make the soup mix onion dip again after making this...From Barefoot Contessa Cookbook
Ingredients
- 2 onions, large and yellow shopping list
- 4 tbls. butter, unsalted shopping list
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil shopping list
- 1/4 tsp ground cayenne pepper (I add a little more) shopping list
- 1 tsp. kosher salt shopping list
- 1/2 tsp black pepper shopping list
- 4 oz. cream cheese, room temperature shopping list
- 1/2 cup sour cream shopping list
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise shopping list
How to make it
- Cut onions in half, then slice them into 1/8-inch thick half-rounds.
- Heat the and oil in large saute pan on medium heat
- Add onions, cayenne, salt and pepper and saute for 10 minute
- Reduce heat to medium-low and cook, stirring occasionally, for 20
- minutes, until onions are caramelized
- Cool
- Put cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise in mixing bowl and with hand mixer beat until smooth
- Add onions and mix well
