Roast Turtle

- 3-4 lbs cleaned snapping turtle pieces shopping list
- 1 envelope onion soup mix shopping list
- 4 medium potatoes, halved shopping list
- salt shopping list
- black pepper shopping list
- cayenne pepper shopping list
- celery seed shopping list
- flour for dusting shopping list
- oil or lard for browning shopping list
How to make it
- Drain rinsed turtle.
- Heat oil in frying pan over medium high heat.
- Dust turtle with flour, salt and peppers to taste.
- Brown turtle a few pieces at a time on all sides and place in roasting pan.
- Sprinkle lightly with celery seed.
- Add potatoes and sprinkle onion soup mix over all.
- Cover pan with foil or lid and place in 350 F over for 2 to 2 1/2 hrs until very tender.
- May add a small amount of water before roasting. No more than 1/2 cup.
- Good served with your favorite coleslaw.

I have had Turtle stew when I was a little girl. This is interesting.
