Ingredients
  • 1 31/2 lb chuck roast
  • 2 tbsp of oil
  • 1 can of condensed tomato soup
  • 1/2 can of dry red wine
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp of ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp of paprika
  • 1/4 tsp of black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 1 large stalk of celery sliced
  • 2 large carrots, sliced
  • 2 or 3 parsnips peeled and sliced
  • 2 tbsp of cornstarch mixed with 1/8 cup of redwine vinegar

Directions
  1. In a dutch oven, brown meat in hot oil; drain off fat.
  2. Stir together soup, garlic, spices, seasonings.
  3. Pour over meat in slow cooker insert.
  4. Add onion, celery, carrot and parsnips.
  5. cover and cook on low for six hours.
  6. Remove meat and veggies to platter. Tent to keep warm.
  7. Combine cornstarch with red wine vinegar, stir into sauce, turn heat to high and cook for five minutes covered.
  8. Spoon some sauce over the meat and pass the rest.
  9. Good with mashed potatoes.

This Pot Roast recipe looks great and I'm looking forward to trying this one out. Usually I prepare my pot roasts in the oven but I have a feeling this is going to be goooooooood! Thanks for a great "5" fork recipe.
