Sausage Cornbread

- 1 cup yellow cornmeal shopping list
- 2 cups buttermilk shopping list
- 12 uncooked breakfast sausage links ( I like turkey ) shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups flour shopping list
- 1/4 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine shopping list
- 1 egg, fork beaten shopping list
- 1/2 tsp vanilla shopping list
- maple syrup as accompaniement shopping list
How to make it
- Combine cornmeal and butter milk and let stand 10 minutes
- In skillet cook sausage till done and drain on paper
- Arrange 8 links spoke like in 9 inch deep dish, cut remaining sasauges in half and arrange between spokes.
- In another bowl combine remaining dry ingerdients.
- Cut in butter or margarine to coarse crumbs.
- Stir egg and vanilla in first cornmeal mixture and add to crumb mixture, stirrring to blend.
- Pour batter over sausages,
- Bake 400 35 to 40 minutes or tested done in center.
- Serve warm with syrup pour over pieces.
