Mama Mia Its Hot Weather Cake

Quick and easy spice cake that doesn't take up too much oven time.
Ingredients
- ***CAKE*** shopping list
- 1/2 cup shortening shopping list
- 1 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1 egg yolk(egg white used later) shopping list
- 1 1/3 cups cake flour shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon shopping list
- 1/2 cup soured milk shopping list
- ******FROSTING****** shopping list
- 1 egg white shopping list
- 1/2 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts(your favorite) shopping list
How to make it
- Cream shortening with brown sugar.
- Beat egg with egg yolk and add to creamed mixture.
- Sift together cake flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, cloves and cinnamon.
- Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk
- Grease and flour an 8" X 8" or 9" X 9" pan and line with waxed paper well up on sides of pan.
- Turn batter into pan.
- Make topping by beating egg white until stiff, then beating in brown sugar, adding a little bit at at time while beating.
- Spread over cake batter.
- Sprinkle nuts on top.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes or until done.
