I've made something similar to this several times and it is delicious. Only difference is to cover with sliced onions before adding the root beer. Then in a separate saucepan, simmer 1 can of root beer and one bottle of chili sauce for a couple of hours until thickened. Drizzle on the pork after it's pulled.

Do I add the root beer to the crock pot and cook it like that from the beginning? Your recipe doesn't say when you use the root beer - this sounds delicious too!

I've cooked this twice and it is a very good recipe. I also add onions.

This is what we had for dinner last night. It was out of this world spectacular!
My only addition was a thickly sliced sweet onion. My guy wasn't even done eating and he was asking when I'd make it again. =P
I let it cook on high for a couple hours and then on low for about four (for 3.5 lb hunk of meat). After letting it sit and then shredding it, I put it back into the crock with the juices for about a half-hour while I got the rest of dinner ready. It was moist and juicy and full of flavor.
I also found some killer bottled BBQ sauce at my grocery store: Rufus Teague's Honey Sweet. OMG It's out of this world as well. It was the single bottle out of the 23420 choices that didn't list HFCS as the first ingredient. Try it if you can find it. =)
