How to make it

  • Toss all the vegetables together with salt/pepper, vinegar, sugar.
  • Chill for one hour or more.
  • Just before serving, add slightly warm bacon grease, toss well and eat.

    Just made a nice bowl of this...it looks just beautiful with all the colors of the veggies. Cannot wait to eat this. Have to admit, I used oilve oil instead of the bacon grease. Watching my diet these day. It already tastes delicious!

    Notcho, I just saw your note on the recipe regarding the celery "tough strings removed"...did I ever tell you how my sister showed me how to "peel" the outer celery, using a potato peeler - I swear, it gives it a whole new taste...almost sweet, and no "strings"...try it sometime - it's amazing!! Great for when you are eating it raw or when you want to stuff it.

    Oh notcho, you KNOW I'm in a salad mood these days - this sounds like just what I crave...love the bacon grease addition...just what my cardiologist ordered (well, maybe not, but how can I resist?!?). I will try this one, notcho - I need a change from my lettuce kick of late!
    Hope all is well with you and yours...somebody slow down the merry-go-round, though - life is spinning by much too quickly lately!
