How to make it

  • Steam or saute the garlic spears until tender- about 3-5 minutes.
  • Place them under cold water to cool down.
  • In the meantime, saute the garlic and onions until the onions are just beginning to soften,.
  • Cut the spears into 3 inches pieces and toss together with the red onion and red peppers.
  • Add balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper to taste.
  • Enjoy!

    I love the Whole Foods marketthey have some of the most interesting vegetables that you do not see in conventional grocery stores.

    Ok, I'll be making a trip to our Whole Foods next weekend to look for these - that sounds so good...anything with a garlic flavor is my kind of food. We used to get an Elephant Garlic pizza, with thin slivers of the garlic on the pizza, baked until the garlic curled around the edges and browned up nice and crispy...delicious (and then the place closed, of course). I hope I'm able to find these "garlic spears" here - thank you!
