How to make it

  • for the FILLING:
  • in a heavy sauce pan melt butter..
  • add flour and cook 1 minute, stirring constantly
  • gradually add orange juice, cook over medium heat until thickened
  • stir in grated orange rind and the sugar
  • chill the mixture thoroughly
  • yields 2/3 cups
  • ..................................................
  • for BISCUITS:
  • combine the flour, sugar, orange rind, and the whipping cream
  • stir with a fork until blended
  • turn dough out onto a lightly floured board.. and knead 10 - 12 times
  • roll dough into a 12 x 8-inch rectangle
  • spread with the orange filling
  • roll up jellyroll fashion, starting at the long end
  • pinch seam and the ends together
  • slice roll into 1-inch pieces and place in greased and floured muffin pans
  • bake at 425' F for 15 - 20 minutes
  • remove from pans immediately and brush with melted butter
  • yields: 12
