Shmalts Chicken-fat

- Fat from as many chickens as you can get shopping list
- 1 kg will usually give you one jarfull of Shmalts shopping list
How to make it
- Just put the pieces of fat in a frying pan (skillet) over low flame until it all melts.
- Pour into jars (through a sieve).
- Let it cool down
- Close jars and refrigerate
- Use as needed for frying or cooking instead of oil

- Gives a great taste to meat or chicken dishes.
- Adds extra taste to mashed potatoes.

- Shmalts can be frozen and thawed as needed

As a child I had many jewish and german neighbors. This was always around. Soooo good! Its like a poor man's version of chicken stock for recipes. Works wonders for veggies.
