Ingredients

3 slices of day-old bread

1 1/2 cups milk

2 medium onions, chopped

1 garlic clove, minced

1/2 cup slivered almonds

1/2 cup raisins

1 tbsp sugar

1 tsp salt

1 tsp curry powder

1/8 tsp pepper

1 tbsp vinegar

1 tsp lemon juice

1 1/2 lbs ground beef

2 eggs

Directions

Soak the bread in the milk

Squeeze the milk from the bread, reserving the milk

Excluding the milk and 1 egg, combine all remaining ingredients thoroughly

Press this mixture into a 11X7 baking dish

Add enough milk to the reserved milk to make 3/4 cup

Beat the remaining egg with the milk

Pour over the meat mixture

Bake uncovered at 350F for 1 hour.

It will be done when the top is golden brown and firm to the touch.
