This was my grandmother's recipe. A good cake to make when you are out of eggs. Very moist, does not need frosting. Excellent served warm with vanilla ice cream.

This is a very good tasting cake. Its very rich in apple flavor. I used 5 granny smith apples which equaled 4 cups. I only used 1 1/2 cups of sugar instead of 2 and it still had plenty of sweetness. The walnuts are a nice touch. I made this late at night because I was craving an apple dessert and it definitely satisfied my craving!

Looking at this photo everyday in the Refugees group, thought I'd take a peek. Wouldn't this be a good cake base to use for pineapple upside down cake -- what ya think?
