How to make it

  • Combine blackberries, 1 cup sugar, tapioca, 1 1/3 cups juice or water, and 2 tablespoons butter; set aside.
  • Sift together the flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add 2/3 cup milk all at once; stir just until flour is dampened.
  • Roll out on a lightly floured surface and cut into 8 rounds, about 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Sprinkle rounds with sugar and ground nutmeg.
  • Pour blackberries into a greased baking dish; place rounds on top of berries. Bake at 425° for 30 minutes.

Blackberries must grow wild in Portland. I'm going to pick the ones sticking thru my fence and make this cobbler tonight. Thanx for the recipe Sunny - it sounds fabulous and most of all Easy!
    Thanx,
    Sunnee

Tried 3 different times to download a pic to your recipe. It isn't happening. Not sure of the problem yet. Might be the pixel size or a timeout error. Going to investigate changing the pixel size. This could take a little. Don't know anything about the process.

Very good. Will make it again. Made some pictures I can send to you.

Mother won't eat your cobbler 'cause it don't have dumplings, but I will. Pics posted shortly.

Blackberry vines grow wild in this area and are so rampant and invasive they are considered a noxious weed. If you all lived closer we would have a berry picking party and everyone could come over and pick all day long.

Me too and never get tired of them. Will be making these as soon as I get to the market and get some berries. I'm jealous of your blackberry vines.
