How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 400
  • For the batter
  • In blender add eggs, milk, butter, vanilla, flour, *sugar and salt and blend until smooth
  • Set aside
  • Generously butter a 10" pie plate
  • Set in oven to heat
  • For apples
  • Melt butter in large skillet over medium high heat
  • Add apples, 1/2 cup sugar and brandy
  • Cook until apples are glazed and heated through (about 5 minutes)
  • Remove pie plate from oven
  • Immediately pour in half of batter
  • Arrange warm apples slices over batter
  • Reserve juices
  • Pour remaining batter over apples
  • Sprinkle with remaining 2 tsp sugar and cinnamon
  • Set in middle of oven
  • Bake until clafouti is golden and set in middle (about 25-30 minutes)
  • Drizzle with warmed reserved pan juices

    Throw that decalorizer away! This shouldn't have any calories after it's cut. All calories fall out when something is cut or broken.
    This dish sound absolutely delicous!

    I'm printing this out now. My decalorizer is in the repair shop, so I can't make this until it comes back. My cardiologist says "moderation," and as far as I'm concerned butter, cream, eggs is moderation. Skip the milk, this is a heavy cream recipe. This is a wow.

    This sounds wonderful and by Wikipedia's def of a Clafouti I think this may be something right up my alley. (Def: a custard-like baked French dessert made with fresh fruit and a batter similar to a pancake batter.)
