Hamburger pie

This is my version of a betty crocker recipe that my kids LOVE!! Even eat the peas I sneak in there..
Ingredients
- 1 lb of ground beef shopping list
- 1 1/3 cups instant potato flakes shopping list
- plus another 1 and 1/3 for the frosting shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1 teaspoon of salt shopping list
- 1/8 teaspoon of pepper or more if you like pepper shopping list
- 1 teaspoon of chopped garlic shopping list
- 1/4 cup ketchup shopping list
- 1 cup of milk shopping list
- plus milk for the mashed potatos on top shopping list
- 3/4 cup of shredded cheese we like the mexican mix but any kind will do shopping list
How to make it
- Mix meat, 1/13 of the instant potatos(dry) the egg the salt, pepper , garlic,milk and ketchup.
- spread mixture into an ungreased pie pan
- bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes
- prepare the remaining mashed potatos as directed on the box we like to make a little extra for a thicker layer.
- after the meatloaf has been cooking for about 40 minutes add the mashed potatos to the top at this point I like to add a layer of peas before I put on the potatoes
- add cheese to the top of the potatoes and bake for another 5 minutes until the cheese melts.

This is a keeper! Kids went 'oooooh' when it came out of the oven all melty/cheesy. I did have more than a lb. of ground beef and should have added more of the other ingredients but the family didn't mind. Clean plates always deserves a ^5.
