You can mix and match cake and icing flavors as well as the chocolate coatings. If you want to go the extra mile, cake balls can be rolled in nuts, sprinkles, coconut, etc. or double dipped in white and dark chocolate.

Gem, I made these last winter at my daughter's house when I was visiting (I used German Choc cake mix and the coconut pecan frosting - dipped them in melted Hershey bars) - I believe they lasted all of 2 hours...these are wonderful (and a nice little size for popping right into the mouth!!).

The family really liked these...I used yellow cake mix and vanilla frosting then dipped in chocolate. I did have trouble dipping the balls though...cake was so moist...

This was the hit of the Cookie Swap! I thought only the kids would like them because they're SO sweet, but everybody loved them. Very messy to make, though - we got chocolate everywhere! And it takes a LOT of the dipping chocolate. Next time I'll dip them in melted hershey bars or chocolate bits, because dipping chocolate is way too expensive. I recommend sticking the balls in the freezer for an hour before dipping - they don't fall apart so easily that way. And using an Easter egg dipper would make it easier too. I used 2 forks, which worked but was time consuming & I feel like we wasted quite a bit of the chocolate.
