I don't know where the "sparerib" came from for this recipe. The sauce can be used to cook chicken wings as well.

Ingredients
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 8 bone-in chicken thighs, skin removed
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple juice
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Directions
  1. In large skillet, heat vegetable oil.
  2. Brown chicken thighs in oil.
  3. In bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup water, soy sauce, brown sugar, apple juice, ketchup, vinegar, garlic, red pepper flakes and ginger.
  4. Pour mixture over chicken.
  5. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes.
  6. Combine cornstarch and 1 tablespoon water.
  7. Add to skillet. Cook until thickened.
