Ingredients

How to make it

  • Heat barbecue grill to medium heat.
  • If salt is very coarse, use a mortar & pestle to make it medium coarse.
  • Sprinkle salt evenly on both sides of the salmon. (One Tblsp. salt is the absolute minimum needed; 1-1/3 Tblsp. is our usual quantity.)
  • Place salmon over medium heat of the grill. Actual cooking time will vary depending on thickness of the salmon, how hot the coals are, & how far the fish is from the coals. Each side will take at least 5 minutes. Cook until the fish flakes & the color is opaque consistently throughout.
  • The salmon is delicious as is, but it may be served with lemon wedges.

Rhianna, the grilled salmon was awesome!! I only had course grain sea salt, so I did have to crush it in my mortar…but I like using that thing, so it all worked out for me! I posted a pic, and put it on top of Keni's asparagus orzotto. Great meal..thank you!

There is no way this could be anything less than a 5...it's salmon... and it's great salt... and it's grilled. :) This was fabulous, Rhianna, thank you for the reminder. I added a photo...and I served it with a new creation of mine that I made JUST to go with this salmon! :)

I also leave the skin on the salmon fillets, salting both sides.
