Ricotta Balls

- Ricotta balls ingredients: shopping list
- 1 pkg. frozen chopped spinach shopping list
- 1 ½ cups ricotta cheese shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs shopping list
- ¼ cup parmesan cheese shopping list
- ¼ cup chopped onion shopping list
- ½ tsp. salt shopping list
- ¼ tsp. garlic powder shopping list
- ¼ tsp. nutmeg shopping list
- ¼ tsp. pepper shopping list
- 1 tsp. basil shopping list
- ½ cup flour ( for rolling ricotta balls ) shopping list
- Sauce Ingredients: shopping list
- 4 Italian sausages removed from the casing. ( sweet or hot sausage ) shopping list
- 1 onion chopped shopping list
- 1 garlic clove shopping list
- 1 tsp. garlic salt shopping list
- 1 ½ cups beef bouillon or 1 ½ cups beef broth. shopping list
- 1 15oz can of tomato sauce shopping list
- ¾ cup dry red wine shopping list
- ½ tsp. oregano shopping list
- Large Sauce pan with 2” of water shopping list
How to make it
- Mix all the ingredients Ricotta balls ingredients together.
- Form mixture into balls about an inch round and roll in flour. Place all the ricotta balls in a bowl and place in refrigerator for 1 hour or longer.
- Sauté the sausage and onion.
- In a medium sauce pan add beef bouillon, tomato sauce, dry wine, and oregano, bring to a simmer for 5 minutes.
- In the large sauce pan bring the 2” of water with the garlic clove and garlic salt to a boil.
- Drop ricotta balls in water, reduce heat to a simmer. When the ricotta balls rise remove about 5 minutes. Add them to the sauce heat for 5 minutes now it is ready to serve.
