    A recipe from Frankieanne
    Baked Tacos

There are a few things I love about this recipe:) First, you can make quite a few crunchy taco shells at once:) Second, they stand while you fill them! By baking the tortillas, it's a healthy way to have crunchy shells, I've been using soft tortillas lately and it's just not the same! They were very tasty with the tomato sauce, taco seasoning & refried beans along with ground turkey..I did add some garlic powder to the mix, they were delicious! Served them with some homemade salsa as well:) Thanks Frankieanne for sharing:)

Nice. I bet these are way healthier than the pre-formed shells I'm using now and way more versatile. Thanks!

Oh yeah, I remember when Frankie posted this one! homemade shells are WAY better than the store bought, and I love the idea of this healthy version! Your picture looks great, especially that salsa!

Oh and Frankie went out of town for a little while, not sure when she's gonna be back, but if she doesn't respond right away, that's why...

Marie, those look so yummy! The tacos that you used look thicker than the ones we can buy in the grocery store. But I'll have to try it. Neat that you guys feel they taste better too. Your salsa looks great!

Ooh, NP, that looks good. I like how wide the shell is. Looks like it holds much more filling than store bought shells. Thats a BIG plus : )

Janet, I used the regular size corn tortillas, they just look bigger in the close-up picture I took:) I HAD to make the salsa..thought I had some..but, like always, 1 ingredient short:D LOL Luckily, I had a Jalapeno to add:)

Mr P! Yes, you can really load these babies up!

Hey, thank you, Marie, for the nice review and great picture! I love this technique of baking the shells and have used it more than once. The fact that they do stand up for filling is a big plus - whatever kind of filling you use!
I'll have to come back later on this week and see what everyone else has been up to. I'm not home right now but I'll be back again soon. I was doing a quick check-in and saw this!
    Thanks again, Marie! :-D

These were yummy! I have never mixed refried beans or tomato sauce into taco meat and it was so good! I accidentally went a few minutes over on the first bake with the taco shells and I was scared to put them back in with all the filling for the second bake, so we just filled them up and we ate :) Did miss my cheese being melty, so I will be sure to get it right next time. Served mine with all the usual taco toppings! Delicious Frankie!!

I am really happy that you and your whole family liked these! Thanks for adding the great picture. They look delicious even without melty cheese! :-D

I've done my own shells before and have been meaning to try the oven rack/flat bottom method but haven't gotten around to it yet. What I haven't tried is baking tacos in the oven with the filling. Sounds so warm and yummy. Do the shells stay crispy FA?
Nice photo Michelle, I think you were right in not putting them back in the oven. Sure they tasted just as good without the cheese melting.

I knew you'd love these Michelle! So much easier (and healthier) than frying the shells:)
LB, my shells stayed crispy after baking them with the filling:)
