Trailer Trash Pot Roast

    I made
    Trailer Trash Pot Roast
by NotyourMomma for dinner this evening and it was lovely. A really nice flavorful sauce. I did my Roast in the Crockpot and just thickened up the gravy in a saucepan with a slurry at the end. The horseradish evens out the sweetness of the coke. The roast was nice and tender. Didn't have any celery on hand but the carrots and potatoes were great.
    Thanks Tina!

I'm honored. Thank you dear. Without the horseradish, I'd be afraid it would be too sweet. I never did a slurry, but I think next time, I will.

Was going to make this this evening too but put back in the fridge. Will bring it up to room temp tomorrow, along with some ingredients for a batch of brownies, and make them. Does 63 degrees qualify as room temperature?

4.7lb roast, done in prescribed time. It was good from the git-go. Some of the carrots laying on top of the roast were still a little on the crunch side but we waded through them. Couldn't even taste any horseradish. Maybe more next time.
Made mother a full-sized plate. She ate half and foiled over the rest to save for supper.

Lots of S&P on the roast and seared in so it was seasoned well.
Potatoes could use a salt shaker set along side the plate.
    Very nice sauce.

Not any trouble at all to put on the stovetop. Season, sear, simmer.

Third day on the pot roast. It is a pleasure to eat.
I'm so sad! It's all gone!
Would like to rush to the store for more ingredients but there are other recipes lined up.
Thanks for sharing a recipe that can manhandle my appetite.

Looking in to canning chili sauce so it's one less pre-packaged thing from the store.

Should have looked at these reviews before I made it again.
Still delicious. Mostly what stood out was the sweetness of the meat. Probably due to the coke.
Made some Homemade Chili Sauce and in the sauce used Ancho Chile Powder

Your pic looks fantastic, Points! I make something very similar to this. It always turns out well. Did you add your onion mix to it too? I find I don't need it in this type of recipe? I usually cut a whole onion in half and put it in. I have done it with just the Coke mixed with a bit of beef bullion and water with lots of garlic salt, carrots, potatoes and onions in the oven or crock pot it is always a winner:) Horseradish has to be on the side here my HB detests the stuff.
