What'cha up to Wednesday?

Good Morning Everybody! Noticed we were on the second page amongst the "Ugh" this morning so shall move us over to the first page with the regular folk. LOL!

Another warm winter's day on my end. There's talk of freezing rain this afternoon. Jim's going to continue working on the roof with the snow rake and I'm going to work on cleaning out the store room.

Not sure what to make for dinner this evening.

Photo below taken a day or two ago of the back deck. :) We do have a good accumulation thus far. :)

So what is on everyone's agenda/menu for today?

I think I'm going to make a batch of
    Polish Dill Pickle Soup
at some point. I have some fresh dill leftover that I'd like to use up.

I also have a bunch of avocados I need to use up. Buying a bag of them at Costco is a great price but it's more than Jim and I would normally go through, and once they ripen they need to be used. If anyone has any suggestions on how I could do it let me know. I'll go google some ideas as well. I like guacamole but don't know what I'd use it on, although I could make some quesadillas for lunch tomorrow I guess.

Good morning. Love the snow pictures. It reminds me of winters in Michigan. MO has much less snow, although ice storms in January are the norm.

Good Morning, Janet. Do you keep some avocados in the fridge and others out on the counter? I do that so they don't all ripen at once and I always buy them rock hard so they don't have brown spots from people squeezing them. If they are all ripe you can put them in the freezer after they are peeled and you can use them got guacamole. Good luck cleaning the storage room again today.

Not much happening here at the moment. I am on my first coffee but wanted to get on here to keep bumping this up.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Good morning Karen! How are you feeling this morning?

Morning Joce! To tell you the truth, up until Christmas time I always thought avocados were like bananas in that you should never put them in the fridge. Then, when we were up in Montreal, I noticed our hostess had avocados in her fridge and she said that she ripens them and then puts them in the fridge which slows down the ripening. I never thought to put them in the fridge first. Didn't know you could freeze them and use them for guac after either. :) Thx.

Avocados are one thing I have not used, mainly because Wayne doesn't like them. I like guacamole but like you mentioned, what to use it on?

    SP Joce.

I finished my first cup of coffee.

Fritz slept in late so he is now asking for his morning jaunt. AC is ready to go outside, but he is always ready.

It is a nice warm day at 44 F, but quite windy.

Kimmer and Linda, hope you both slept in late just like Fritz! :)

Morning!! Yuck on the freezing rain Janet, but beautiful snow picture! I'll dig around for some good avocado recipes :)

    Hi Karen and Joce!

Not too much going on here today, finally! The last few days have been a little crazy. Back to normal though! I made the kids some homemade pizza last night and it was SOOO good. I had a very small piece with a salad. I am going to try out a Paleo pizza crust today for myself, since I ran out of time last night, using Cassava flour, which is a root. It's expensive stuff, so hopefully it works out! Going to top it with pineapple and jalapenos :) Dinner tonight will be that for myself and I have a ton of pulled pork leftover from Sunday night so I'm going to make BBQ sandwiches with it for the kids and Michael (to take to work). Have a great day everyone!!

Good Morning Michelle! I've heard of Cassava but never knew they made a flour out of it. Cool on pineapple and jalopeno pizza. BBQ Pulled Pork sandwiches sound yummy.

Well Wayne must be feeling a whole lot better if he's up for a task such as that Karen. LOL @ being safely back from the Dubai Call Girl abyss. LOLOLOL.

    Decided to make
    Oven Fried Panko Chicken
for dinner this evening. I've been wanting to try
    Cheesy Poblano Rice
ever since Michelle reviewed it in IMIll, and I think it might go nicely with the chicken. Have to check if I have any mozzerella in the freezer.

    Good Morning Everyone.

I thought for a few minutes that I didn't know what day it was Janet. When I seen 23 replies I thought ... "OMG, its Thursday and I lost a day" but then opened the post to see what I missed and then it became clear.
That's a lot of snow on your deck. The same happens to me when I buy avocados from Costco, I just can't go thru them quick enough. You can peel, slice, and freeze to use another time for something. I too keep them in the fridge and my "go-to" is guacamole. You are on a roll with cleaning up and out.
Oh ... you can use mashed avocado in place of mayonnaise say in egg salad or tuna salad. I never have but people do.

Hi Joce. Enjoy your day. You'll think of something to keep you busy.

One of these days I'll venture pineapple on pizza Michelle. It's probably good, just a foreign concept for me. BBQ pulled pork sandwiches sound great.

Happy to hear both you and Wayne are feeling a bit better Karen. Don't over do it though.

We all slept late this morning. The day started very overcast and foggy but it looks to be clearing up. Want to get out and do something today with LD too. Perhaps go to one of the outdoor malls being it's warm and walk around. Need to get him out for some fresh air and sun, his little black nose it lightening up and turning brown from lack of sunshine.
No idea yet about dinner. Maybe we will get a late lunch out.

Michelle, I don't have any mozzerella but I do have swiss cheese. Do you think that'd be an okay sub for the Poblano rice recipe?

LOLOL @ Avocado fudge Sclaire. I think I'll pass thanks. :)

Hi Linda! I'm quite surprised you've never had a Hawaiian pizza before. Pineapple on a pizza does sound radical I admit, but with the ham and the mozz. it really works. :) Glad you had a decent night's sleep. Enjoy lunch out if you go.

Well, I went through three shelves in the store room. Cleaned up a lot, have a small bag of garbage and half a box to bring in to the Salvation Army. I did manage to amalgamate two totes full of Halloween decorations into one, (I have two others as well), so have an extra empty tote which i know will come in handy by the time I'm done. Came across ANOTHER big box of hardcover children's books that I know Benjamin wanted to keep. We have a wall length row of heavy duty shelving behind sliding doors in the rec room. That's on my list to go through as well, and once I get a bunch of stuff cleaned out of there, I'll hopefully have room to place all of Benjamin's books up on the shelves. That way they'll be easier to see plus if we have any younger ones visit, they can peruse them and see if they want to read anything while they're here.

Had some Beef Dip leftovers frozen so thawed that out for lunch. Was very yummy. The Dill pickle soup turned out nicely. I've kept one jar to eat later in the fridge and froze one jar for another time.

Jim got all the snow removal he wanted done, complete. It's up to -6C/21F so it's downright balmy.

Hello all. Feel so bad right now. Bought both my grandson and daughters new beau's daughter Hatchimal Bath Bombs for Christmas. Beau's daughter used one the other night and broke out in horrible hives! Apparently, according to Benny's girl and I checked it out on line, a recall went into effect shortly after Christmas regarding these that they can cause chemical burns. Didn't see that. I feel sooo sooo bad right now. Who would think! They looked delightful for children as they blow up in bubbles in the bath and then a surprise charm is in the middle. Thought what a great thing for kids this age. Just feel so bad as her first Christmas with us and I blow up her skin!!! Yikes! Daughter's beau told her not to tell me but of course she did. My grandson wanted to use his last night and she told him no and threw it away. What a total disappointment!

    Really feeling bad right now.................
