Ingredients

How to make it

  • Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Saute the onions until softened, about 2 minutes. Then add the red pepper flakes and garlic and cook another minute.
  • Add collard greens and stir. Cook another minute.
  • Add vegetable stock, cover and bring to a simmer.
  • Let cook for about 35 minutes before you stir in the liquid smoke, smoked paprika, and apple cider vinegar.
  • Cover again and cook for another 10-25 minutes, or until tender.
  • Season will salt and pepper and add more red pepper, vinegar, smoke, and/or paprika to your taste.

    Good grub. Still don't know where to add the tomatoes. Nothing wrong with the seasonings as is. Although I did halve the red pepper flakes.

    Well you have turned me into a collard greens fan Dahlia!! You do need to add in the directions when the tomatoes are added, but I think I got it figured out :) Yum!!! Added my pic and into the IMI --------> Collard Greens

    Never added tomatoes before, but I love the idea. I use liquid smoke, just a touch of it with smoked turkey necks. I love collards.

    I like spinach,but my Grandparents liked the Lambs Quarter or Collard Greens,but don't believe they ever had it with the tomatoes before.
