Oh, honey this would be perfect with bean soup and would bring back memories of my momma. Thanks for the post....my momma always put some grated onion in her hush puppies and they were awesome, I can see this same flavor combination being just as great.

I don't happen to have buttermilk in the house at the moment and want to make your cornbread to go with chili that I'm making tonight. Do you have a recommendation for a good substitute? Hope you are online and see this early enough for me to make it tonight. Hopefully with the time difference that might help.
