Sweet Onion Cornbread with Cheddar Cheese

Cornbread with sweet onion and cheddar cheese. Whip up a pot of beans to go alone.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups yellow cornmeal shopping list
- 3/4 cup flour shopping list
- 1/2 Tbs. baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 Tbs. salt shopping list
- 1/4 tps. baking soda shopping list
- 2 Tbs. butter,divided shopping list
- 1/2 quart buttermilk shopping list
- 1/2 cup sweet onion shopping list
- 2 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shredded shopping list
How to make it
- Mix dry ingredients together reserve. Melt 2 Tbs. butter in a 9"x9"x2" pan in a 450 degree F oven.
- Meanwhile, stir buttermilk into dry ingredients; fold in onion and cheese. Bake at 450 degreese F until just firm in the center and lightly browned on the edges, about 25 minutes. Remove; let rest 15 minutes before cutting. Cut into 12 pieces.
