Ingredients

How to make it

  • Combine meat, onion and bell pepper in large skillet. (I used cast iron)
  • Saute together, breaking up meat well, until veggies start to soften, but you don't need to totally brown the meat. I let it go about 10 minutes.
  • Add remaining ingredients other than butter, garlic powder and buns and simmer on medium heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture is thickened and meat is cooked.
  • Meanwhile, melt butter in glass bowl in microwave.
  • Add garlic powder and stir well.
  • Brush garlic butter mixture on cut sides of all buns.
  • Toast in oven at 450 for about 10 minutes, until lightly browned.
  • Serve meat/tomato mixture on buns, sprinkle with cheese.

    "Fuggetaboutit" is a Brooklyn Italian term. lol I have some extra pasta sauce in my fridge, some chopmeat in the freezer, and some leftover cheese bits from thanksgiving. This sounds like a delicious concoction for this weekend to get rid of it all.
    p.s. Whole wheat buns merely trick your brain into lessening the guilt.
