Rick's Panettone ~ Bread Machine

My husband makes this every Christmas for family & friends..It's an Italian sweetbread with rum soaked raisins, dried fruit and orange zest...makes the best french toast ever or toast with some butter is delicious as well! Ingredients
- 3/4 cup warm water shopping list
- 1/4 cup butter, softened at room temp shopping list
- 2 large eggs shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract shopping list
- 1/2 vanilla bean, scraped shopping list
- 3 1/4 cups flour shopping list
- 2 tbsp sugar shopping list
- 2 tbsp dry powdered milk shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 2 tsp active dry yeast shopping list
- 1/4 cup mixed dried fruit (cranberries, dates or your favorite) shopping list
- 1/4 cup dark rum soaked raisins, drained shopping list
- 2 tbsp slivered almonds shopping list
- 1 tbsp orange zest shopping list
How to make it
- Place first 10 ingredients in order into a 1 1/2 lb bread machine loaf pan.
- Select sweet or basic white bread cycle and use medium or light crust color setting.
- Add chopped fruit, drained rum soaked raisins, almonds & orange zest when the raisin or nut signal starts OR 5-10 minutes minutes before the last kneading cycle ends.
- ***(FYI- my bread machine beeps at 2:15, the time showing on the machine timer, also, the whole process from start to finish is 3:20, 3 hrs 20 mins)
- Serve warm, toasted with butter, or makes the best french toast:)
