Italian Meatloaf Recipe
My husband is not a meatloaf fan, but when I tried this recipe, he thought it was wonderful and ask me to make it again the following week.

  • .
  • 2-1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • Two links Johnson Italian sausage, about ½ Pound remove casing.
  • Three eggs large
  • One 5.5 ounce can tomato juice.
  • One five oz can evaporated milk.
  • 1 cup Progresso Italian style bread crumbs
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 3/4 cup green bell pepper and
  • 3/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1 teaspoon each: black pepper -season salt-garlic powder-Italians seasoning
  • 1/2 cup shredded fresh parmesan cheese
  • Topping:
  • 1/2 cup ketchup-1/2 cup brown sugar, packed - 1 teaspoon brown mustard

Directions
  1. Heat oven 400°line A 13X9-inch baking dish with foil
  2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Mix well. I use my hands. Shape meat in the prepared pan into a long loaf shape; pour on topping. Bake uncovered 1 hour. Don't overcook... It will dry your meat loaf out. Allow meatloaf to rest 30 minutes before slicing.

  4. Whisk topping ingredients together in a small bowl. Pour over meatloaf and then bake

I am not a huge meatloaf fan - but this looks great - thanks - will try it on my hubby this week too!


Hope you like it, I was totally surprised that my husband said how good it was, then had sandwiches with the leftovers, and ask if I would consider making it again the following week. Of course I did, but we had just finished the first one lol

This sounds absolutely delicious and I'm dying to make it! However, I have to ask, as I am extremely new to cooking. After putting the topping on the meatloaf, you then say, bake. Can you tell me how long you continue to bake, once the topping is on? And on what temperature? Thank you so much for your posts. :-)
