This is an incredible pastry and one that is always gobbled up when I mae them. A little effort is needed to prepare these, but well worth the effort. I promise.

I am trying to visualize this one. Do I need to cut the dough and actually make an E shape? After its baked do I slice it like bread? Does this make two loaves? I notice there are (pans)involved. Sorry for my denseness

It is a confusing reicpe. You do cut the dough to make an E shape and it does make two loaves.

A very dear friend of our family used to make this, but she'd put it in loaf pans and send us two every year around Christmas. My sister and I have made it using her recipe, but we have never been able to get the dough quite as thin as hers - the layers were paper-thin! I guess practice makes perfect. This is a delicious recipe!
