Caramel Krispy Bars

This is similar to Scotcharoos, but, melted caramel is mixed with the rice cereal and peanuts. This has been a standard in my house at Christmas since my son was a toddler!
Ingredients
- 4 c crisp rice cereal shopping list
- 1 bag caramels shopping list
- 3 T water shopping list
- 1 c peanuts shopping list
- 1 small bag butterscotch chips shopping list
- 1 small bag semi-sweet chips shopping list
How to make it
- Combine cereal and peanuts in large mixing bowl and set aside
- Melt caramels in saucepan with water
- When smooth, quickly but gently stir in to cereal mixture
- Spread into buttered 9x13 pan
- Sprinkle chips on top
- Bake at 250-300 until chips are soft and shiny
- Spread chips to form icing
- Allow to cool until icing forms a semi-hard candy shell.
