Ingredients
  • 2-2/3 cups sugar
  • 2 cups butter
  • 6 Tblsp. water
  • 2 Tblsp. light corn syrup
  • 1 cup finely chopped almonds, toasted
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped almonds, untoasted
  • 2 cup chocolate chips (or more, to taste)

Directions
  1. Butter two cookie sheets, or spray with non-stick spray.
  2. In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, butter, water, corn syrup and untoasted almonds.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, to hard crack stage (300 degrees).
  4. Quickly pour mixture into prepared sheets and spread as thinly as possible, approx 1/4 inch thick. Using the back of two forks, keep spreading the candy until it fits all the way to each side, then spread more from the middle, where it will be thicker.
  5. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot candy and wait about one minute, until melted.
  6. Spread chocolate over candy and then sprinkle with toasted almonds.
  7. Chill until completely hardened and then break into bite-sized pieces.
  8. Hints: I undercook this just slightly, not more than about 5 degrees, so that it is easier on the teeth.

Bring on the sugar induced coma lol Sounds great, especially with the extra choc chips - I'm such a chocolate fiend, I always add more chocolate than the recipe instructs. Man, a plateful of those, would stop me in my tracks. Great post, thanks. Got my 5.

I'm going to make some for my Mom :) Sounds really good! (I've never made toffee, so wish me luck!) :)

You are sinful to post this. Reminds of Almond Roca. Thanks JJ. You know I will make this and take a few picks. JJ

Yummy.

Where is the recipe? I was so looking forward to reading it......:( (It seems it was up about 7.5 hrs ago.)

I had to come back and grab this recipe to make over the holiday so I can give them out to my friends.

I love making candy for people. Cookies they can understand, but there's something about homemade candy that just bugs out their eyes. This looks like a recipe I will have to try this season. Thanks!
