Fried Cabbage And Onion With Bacon

- I HEAD OF SHEDDERED cabbage (RED OR GREEN) shopping list
- 1 onion CHOPPED shopping list
- ABOUT ENOUGH olive oil TO COVER THE BOTTOM OF THE SKILLET. shopping list
- 3 TBSP OF water. shopping list
- 2 STRIPS OF bacon FRIED AND DRAINED OF THE FAT. shopping list
How to make it
- TAKE THE HEAD OF CABBAGE , THE ONION AND THE BACON AND PLACE INTO A SKILLET THAT HAS HAD THE OLIVE OIL PUT INTO IT. START THE COOKING OVER MEDIUM HEAT. STIR TILL IT STARTS TO LIGHTLY BROWN THEN ADD THE WATER TO HELP THE CABBAGE COOK BETTER AND STEM FOR A FEW MINS TILL TENDER. REMOVE THE LID AND COOK THE CABBAGE TILL THE WATER IS GONE. I HAVE ADDED A CAN OF STEWED TOMATOES TO THIS AND DID NOT COOK THE WATER OUT OF THE CABBAGE. MAKES IT ALMOST LIKE A THICK SOUP.
