Ingredients
  • Crust:
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup (35 grams) confectioners (powdered or icing) sugar
  • 113 grams cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • Filling
  • 1 cup sour cream (I used plain yogurt )
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups peeled, sliced tart apples (about 1 1/4 pounds of slices)
  • Topping
  • 1/2 cup brown or white sugar.
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Mix together all ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.Use a food processor or a fork.

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Crust:
  3. In the bowl of your food processor place the flour and sugar. Pulse to blend together. Add butter and pulse until dough just begins to come together. Pat the dough onto the bottom and one inch (2.5 cm) up the sides of the pan. Cover with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator while you make the filling.
  4. Beat together sour cream(yogurt), sugar, flour, salt, vanilla and egg (can beat by hand). Add apples, mixing carefully to coat well.
  5. Put filling into a pie shell and bake at 400 degrees initially for 25 min.
  6. Remove from oven and sprinkle with Cinnamon Crumb Topping. Bake for and additional 20 more minutes.

Ahmed.. I will have to make this both ways... with the sour cream and with the yogurt....have to check it out both ways to see which I like the best....I agree with one of the Foodies... I dont think you ever sleep.....always coming up with great desserts..

Incredible photos, wonderful post. Love sour cream and apples, but then you already knew that, didn't you? This will be added to the must make soon list. Apples are a favorite "pie" fruit and my family loves them. Thank you dear.

My husband only likes streussel topping pies - he'll love this one.

Great recipe! Interesting that one can use plain yogurt instead of sourcream. I'm mad about apple pie!
