How to make it

  • Combine the meat, 1 tbsp. of cilantro, 1 1/2 tsp. of paprika, 1 tsp of cumin, half of the salt and pepper in a large bowl. Shape into 24 one-inch balls.
  • Heat a large nonstick skillet. Swirl in the oil, then add the onion and garlic. Saute until softened. Stir in the tomato, tomato paste, water, remaing 1 tbsp. cilantro, 1 tsp. paprika, 1 tsp. cumin, remaining salt and pepper, bring to a boil. Add the meatballs, reduce the heat and simmer, covered, until the meatballs are cooked and the sauce thickens, 30 to 45 minutes. Garnish with parsley just before serving if desired.
  • One serving = 6 meatballs = 204 calories/4 points.

    I think this will be supper tonight. Have some gr beef in fridge need to use, and have everything else, which is a bonus! I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks!

    In response to moroccanlady -- the original recipe called for lamb, but I don't eat lamb so I have always made it with pork -- I guess I shoulld have changed it back when I put it on here, but I don't profess to put absolutely authentic recipes on the site! I don't come up with them and I don't name them! I just make 'em and if I like 'em I pass them on!

    hey there,
    i am Moroccan. and i want to say that Moroccan cuisine never uses pork. i hope you don't take it the wrong way. but we use minced beef only.

    a suggestion: crack 2-3 eggs and let cook for 10mn covered at the end..
