Moist Baked Tilapia Recipe

Moist Baked Tilapia Recipe
Add Step-by-Step Photos

I came up with this recipe by melding several recipes I'd made and it turned out pretty good. It's my old standby when I don't know what to make for dinner. (picture shown is before baking)

Ingredients
  • 6 Tilapia filets (I buy the individually frozen ones from Costco, they also sell it fresh at times)
  • Ranch dressing (I use Hidden Valley Light bottled)
  • Bacon (I use Hormel Real Crumbled bacon in the bag - convenient and less fat and hassle)
  • 1/4 cup chopped sweet onion (or I have used red, green or yellow - whatever you have)
  • Parmesan (or whatever cheese your like) That's what this recipe is all about - convenience!

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 * F
  2. Place Tilapia fillets in greased 9x13 (or whatever works for you)
  3. Spread ranch dressing on each one - as thin or thick as you like
  4. Sprinkle with bacon bits as much as you like
  5. Sprinkle with onion . . . "
  6. Top with the cheese ( I wait until last 5 minutes of cooking - but you choose when)
  7. Bake in oven for 15 - 20 minutes max - Don't want them dry
  8. You can use them frozen and cook 30 mins at 375* and it works just as well.

This sounds absolutely fantastic!! I'm going to try it ASAP.

Hope you do, mbalmr. Let me know what you think. :-)

Great recipe, I am going to try this. Thanks so much justjakesmom!!

Sounds delicious!

Made this tonight, but did it a little different. Used Mayo instead of Ranch, seasoned with dill, old bay, and some tarragon. Used green onions. Took a picture of it before adding cheese, but I only made it for two tonight.
P.S. picture is before baking

Oh yeah. This sounds good. I love to experiment with my tilapia fillets. I buy them individually frozen, too. It is easy to pull one out when I am feeling creative. I didn't realize you could cook them from frozen.....

Made this tonight for dinner and it was easy and delicious! So many variations you could do as well! I stuck to the recipe though...delicious, but next time will try different cheeses and onion to change it up a bit! Also don't be afraid to be generous with the ranch...I thought it might be overpowering and didn't use a whole lot...but the flavor was subtle and next time I will use a lot more. Thanks for the recipe Justjakesmom!

Great recipe!

Weren't we just discussing tilapia in ODD today?....Gonna try...:)

This does sound good! I love the bacon and cheese on this! I bet this would be great with any type of fish!

Looks like a great and easy recipe, can't wait to make it.
