Ingredients

1 can fruit pie filling (21 oz)

1 box cake mix (14.25 oz)

1 bag miniature marshmallows (about 4 cups)

Directions

Spray PAM (or equivalent) on bottom of 9x13 baking dish.

Spread miniature marshmallows over bottom of pan.

Prepare a cake mix package according to directions.

Pour over the marshmallows. DO NOT STIR TOGETHER.

Then open a can of pie filling and spoon on top of the cake mix. DO NOT STIR.

Put in oven to bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.

The marshmallows will rise to the top and the pie filling will drop to the bottom.

The minute I saw this recipe, I thought, "Mmmmmm - chocolate cake with cherry pie filling!!" Well, I bought the chocolate cake mix and marshmallows, but kept forgetting the darned cherries!! So, I have yellow cake mix and apple pie filling, and I'm going to make this and add a bit of cinnamon to the mix.

UPDATE - made this tonight and it was terrific!!! So moist!!! Next time, chocolate cake mix.

How much easier can you get than that? chatombreux, I have a very easy black forest cake recipe that you use a chocolate cake for -- all you do is make up your chocolate cake mix, mix in a can of cherry pie filling pour into a cake pan and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Then you serve it with whipped cream. It is very moist and nice but don't overbake -- watch it carefully.

Thanks to everyone for their comments and ideas! My mother has been in and out of the hospital recently, so I haven't done nearly as much on some sites because of her condition and my concerns. We almost lost her two weeks ago, so again, being here is hit and miss. But, thank you all again. I'm going to try auntybea's Black Forest Cake when I get the chance! I plan to next make this cake using spice cake mix and peach pie filling. I'm looking forward to it!
