How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Melt butter in a 7 x 11-inch shallow baking dish.
  • Sift together dry ingredients; add milk and stir well.
  • Pour this mixture into the baking dish.
  • Do not stir.
  • Top with peaches, including juice.
  • Combine nutmeg, cinnamon, sugar and lemon peel together in a small bowl.
  • Sprinkle this over peaches, but do not stir.
  • Bake in 350-degree oven 40 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Serve warm with cream or vanilla bean ice cream.
  • Serves 6 to 8.
  • A surprise cobbler batter rises to the top during cooking and forms a golden crust

    This is how i make all my Cobblers(batter wise) with the fresh fruit filling over the batter to start...works out good, good post.
