Ingredients

How to make it

  • Melt butter in heavy stock pot.
  • Saute onions over medium-low heat until light brown, 10-12 minutes.
  • Sprinkle flour over onions, mix in slowly.
  • Stir in beef broth, vinegar, salt & pepper (the smell of the vinegar will disappear as it cooks).
  • Bring it to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer uncovered for 10-15 minutes.
  • Place your sliced bread in oven-safe bowls, ladel soup over bread & place a slice of cheese on top of bowl.
  • Bake until cheese melts, about 5 minutes (350 degrees).
  • Some like bread toasted first, up to you. If you have some leftover, it's better to heat up on stove first then just microwave it to melt your cheese.
