Make It Yourself--flavored Butters
From keni 16 years agoIngredients
- 1 stick salted butter, room temperature(or 1/2 cup homemade, salted) shopping list
- various add ins....see below! shopping list
How to make it
- FOR HERB BUTTERS:
- use 1-2T finely chopped fresh herb(dill is okay, dried, the rest, I'd say stick to fresh:parsley, oregano, thyme, rosemary, tarragon, chives, basil, etc)
- FOR SPICE BUTTERS:
- 2-3t depending on taste and spice(ie cayenne, chili, curry, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, etc)
- FOR SWEET BUTTERS:
- 2T honey or
- 1T unsweetened cocoa and 1-2T powdered sugar or
- vanilla with or without above sugar
- NUT BUTTERS:
- 2T finely chopped nuts(ie pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts, peanuts, macadamias, etc)
- SPECIAL BUTTERS:
- "Hotel" Butter is about 1T parsley, a squirt of lemon juice and a touch of fresh ground pepper
- You can add minced onion and garlic for another savory butter
- Also, mix and match the above and add the zest from any citrus fruit to make all kinds of combos...cilantro/chili/lime butter, Orange/Honey butter, as seen on my French Toast recipe ;), lemon/Chive
- **The butters shown above are named with their ingredients, and the "main" photo is cinnamon/honey butter**
