This was our dinner two nights ago that I came up with on the fly. My husband thought it was my best yet, and actually said, "You should submit this"! LOL - He's catching the spirit of this. Warning - very spicy in a hot way - Because we... More

Ingredients
  • 30 shrimp (I used frozen, thawed of course, the 26-30 per lb. size)
  • 2 Tbls. olive oil (more or less)
  • 1 Tbls. butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion (approximately)
  • 1 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp. (more or less) ancho chile powder
  • 1 large fire roasted sweet red pepper, chopped finely (I used jarred)
  • 1 4 oz. can fire roasted green chiles (I used the hot ones, they also have mild)
  • Dried japone chiles, about 7, soaked in boiling hot water to soften, chopped finely
  • *HINT*: Wear gloves while handling and don't touch your eyes, remove all or most seeds to make them less hot.
  • 1 cup chicken broth (or more depending on how thick or thin you like your sauce)
  • 6 oz. cream cheese (I used Philly light)
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro, leaves only
  • 8 oz. (dry) cooked pasta of your choice (I used shells, cuz that's what hubby likes)

Directions
  1. Thaw shrimp, if frozen, and remove tails
  2. Meanwhile bring your water to boil for pasta, add when ready
  3. Cook shrimp in olive oil over medium heat for about 2 to 3 minutes on each side (careful not to overcook, burners vary)
  4. I sprinkled the ancho chile powder over the shrimp, but you can add to sauce later, or omit
  5. Remove shrimp and set aside
  6. Add butter to pan, add onions and garlic
  7. Saute till onions are soft and clear
  8. Add chopped red peppers and green chiles
  9. Add chicken broth and bring to simmer
  10. Add chopped japones
  11. Remove from heat or turn off gas, and add cream cheese, stirring till disolved (I use the back of my spoon, pressing down and moving in a circle till incorporated)
  12. Add chopped cilantro and pasta when done
  13. Stir and serve immediately
  14. Have cold beverage near at all times!

Forgot to say that this "sauce" is good with chicken instead of the shrimp too.

Yum..saving this for later...thanks!

This sound amazingly good! It doesn't look too bad either! I have a feeling this sauce would be great with chicken, shrimp or even steak! Good job!:)

Oooooh....uh huh....this is goin' in the "saved" file. Thanks, darlin'...and, wouldn't change the heat on this one, either. Sounds wonderful, so glad Mr. dd told you to share it! ;)

So this is what you made the other night very nice ....*5*

I don't like shrimp but the hubby does so I usually shy away from making anything with shrimp. I am going to make this for him though, I think he will love it!

Wow this sounds rich ans spicy, nice and creamy.
Five forks and a big smile :)

Someone stole your recipe, word for word. Look at the Similar Recipes to the right and you'll see.

All I can say is, "What nerve!!"

I sent a Email to Group Recipes and I also sent a a comment to the person who copied your recipe, here it is...

I just found this recipe, while looking for Just Jakes Mom Recipe.. How can you copy her recipe word for word, even down to the opening statement that was made by her...

Scandalous, this should not be happening!~!!

This should not be allowed at all, where are your creative morals, as far as recipes are concerned? Seriously, making a recipe is one thing, but copying someone elses and portraying that you made it is just wrong, wrong, wrong.

Be well,
Annie Jimenez

And another thing...

I still think it is COMPLETELY SCANDALOUS for someone to copy someone else's recipe and call it their own, she even copied and pasted your recipe verbatim - WEIRD and not nice...

But amusing, now that I think about me.. Amusing as in funny, because it shows something... what is the word I am looking for?

It will come to me...

You would think she would change something, instead of copying and pasting things (like the comments you made that were in parenthesees) You know what I mean?

Be well,
Annie
p.s. You should feel lucky that she did not copy your photograph also... Ha, ha, ha

What is a japone chili? And do you know the heat rating on it?
