Blue eyes, Thanks so much for the information. It is not a problem for most but for those of us with mold allergies it can be fatal. I appreciate your watching out for us. :)

Thanks Blue for posting this..
We all need to key in on search engine something to the effect of:expiration dates on shelf stored items. I did one night and found this exact info in a google search Many products can be dangerous if kept long after expiration dates.. I noted for instance that my Crisco and my whole wheat products were dangerously out of date. As the lady said above it is not worth $2.00 (or even $20.00!) to put our family and loved ones at risk!!
Thank you, Blue and a ^^^^^ 5 from me!!

Wow! I had absolutely no idea. I'm going to go through my pantry now and pass this information to my family.

Sheesh! I hate to admit that cake mix never goes bad in my house due to...well...the obvious reasons, but it's really good info! Sometimes the stores don't keep their products up to date, so best to check before buying too.

Thanks Blu! I had no idea either, much better safe than sorry. I do look for those nasty little bugs that seem to appear in grain type products, but I never really thought about dry ingredients having an expiration date.

Even better, don't use mixes for things as simple as pancakes and muffins! Then you won't have to worry about possible allergens in small print, you'll save money and really, if you look at the box you'll see that those mixes include only the cheap stuff.
