This concept is great when you're traveling. Keep it in your purse or glove compartment in the car for those sudden oncoming headaches. Just apply to your temples and massage in. Now take a few deep breaths.

Ingredients
  • 2 oz. (55g) bees wax
  • 3 oz. (85g) Shea butter
  • 4 oz. (115g) olive oil
  • 8-10 drops of lavender essential oil
  • *If you don't like lavender oil, then use an essential oil that you do prefer. Eucalyptus oil works well and so does oil of Thieves (clove based)
  • Lip Balm containers or tiny jam jars
  • Note: If you can't find Shea butter, then substitute the 3 oz. of Shea butter with 1 extra oz. of bees wax and 2 oz. of either a massage oil base like apricot oil, or use olive oil.

Directions
  1. Begin by melting bees wax and Shea butter in a double boiler method.
  2. When the bees wax has melted, add all the oil's together including the lavender oil. Or whatever oil you choose.
  3. Add the mixture to small lip balm pots or miniature jam jars.
  4. This recipe makes 9 oz. (250g) of headache relief balm.

Great Idea Lor, I Need Ths After Those Long Hours In Front Of The 'puter At Work.

Hey, I like this idea. I also like the fact that you have given us options with the essential oils. You've got my 5.

My mom often gets headaches when she travels. I'll e-mail this to her. Thanks a lot!

Thanks, Lor! 5 from me on this one, too. My youngest son gets lots of headaches and doesn't care to take a lot of medicine. This sounds perfect for him!!

We've used plain lavender oil for quite some time, works like a dream! This is a little easier to take along... less chance of spills.

I don't suffer from headaches but I know of friends who do. I'll forward this recipe onto them with hopes that it helps. 5 forks

I will try it on the back of my neck too. i just posted one for a hot compress you might like. holly

Great post Lor high5

GREAT idea, sounds wonderful. As a stressed out teacher, I often get headaches. ;o) I can't wait to try this. Where do you get Shea butter? I have some great essential oils, love lavender!

BTW, check out my new GR group, Kids Stuff, and add your favorite kids recipe. I'm trying to get some great resources together for the little ones before the holidays get here. Blessings, deb

Wow,thanks for this wonderful recipe. Since I do not work anymore I rarely get a headache unless it is a sinus headache. I am going to make some of this up to have around. My in-laws do no believe in western medicine and they use herbs to treat their ailments. I am going to give them a copy of this. They will love it. You have my 5. Too bad I can't give you a 10. Thanks again. Happy Cooking
