How to make it

  • In large saucepan, combine:
  • All the chopped veggies
  • The can of tomatoes
  • The whole tomatoes
  • The Basil
  • The salt
  • The pepper
  • The lemon juice
  • Simmer one hour or until the whole tomatoes start to fall apart easily.
  • Serve over spaghetti, or any other pasta you desire, sprinkled with grated old cheddar cheese on top.

    I'm not well enamored with the flavor. I was hoping for a deeper savory sauce instead of a stewed tomato flavor.
    But after getting over that I forced myself to enjoy the flavor.
    Sauce was always on the watery side. Didn't have time to finish simmering it down to a thicker consistency, even with 50% more simmer time.
    Is there a special type tomato you use?
