Ingredients

How to make it

  • place biscuits on baking sheet and bake while making chocolate
  • in a large saucepan, add pudding mix , eggs and 1/2 cup evaporated milk..
  • stir until blended
  • on medium heat continue stirring............. until all blended
  • then slowly add the rest of the milk measuring 4 cups total of milk...
  • cook until it comes to a boil , reduce heat and stirring till it thickens slightly ....it will be thinner than pudding more like a gravy consistency

I have lived in Pittsburgh for many years and have raised my family here. Through no fault of their own they have developed their dad's love for perogies and gyros, and a hate for mom's chocolate gravy and baked macaroni and cheese. Sometimes I wonder if they can truly be my kids. I'm a southern girl heart, and soul and I love my comfort food even if I have to eat it alone. Tonight I was in the mood for my chocolate gravy that I have eaten all my life, but to my utter disappointment I was out of cocoa powder. In a panic I hit the web looking for a substitute and I found this. I made it and it was good but it doesn't compare to the real deal! Pudding just doesn't provide that rich chocolatey taste that makes this dish a classic southern favorite..sorry!

Hi Tink, Is this the recipe that you spoke of? Thanks so much for showing me. I'll organize myself tonight and I'll let you know how we went. You've really got me going on this; I've even got a work mate hanging over my shoulder as I write this. May be I could bring some in for the boys. That'll bring on some culinary fame to you, as these boys consider themselves as connoisseurs of all connoisseurs, but I reckon they're full of wind! Thanks for the recipe Tink. Cheers!

Sounds yummy to me but you know me and chocolate. We use to eat biscuits and rhubarb sauce when I lived up north. That was really good too with buttered biscuits. Thanks Tink!

I'm not quite sure what to make out of this recipe but if we like to eat donuts covered in chocolate glaze, I guess this recipe would be a real treat to kids and adults alike. My boys loved chocolate chips in their pancakes so I'm sure that they'd love this, too. They're all grown up now but their "sweet tooth" is still there! Thanks for the recipe. Its so unique! This should make every chocoholic out there rethink having a plain biscuit with butter and jam on it.
